Our logo: The Lauburu and its connection to organic farming

This image features a ripe quince fruit hanging on a tree branch amid green leaves, with a digital overlay of a stylized leaf logo in green and red.

Every business creates a distinct identity that resonates with its values, ethos and aspirations. At Lakeland Produce our logo stands for our journey, culture and commitment. It is more than just a visual representation; it is a symbol of sustainability and harmony with nature.

Our logo was created using the Lauburu, an ancient, hooked cross with four comma -shaped heads. It is the most widely known traditional symbol of the Basque Country located in the western Pyrenees, on the coast of the Bay of Biscay in Spain from where our family originates.undefined

The word lauburu means four heads. “lau” meaning four and “buru”meaning head. It is an ancient symbol with many meanings and for us it signifies the four elements of nature with each head symbolizing earth, water, fire and air. It represents the organic values that underpin everything we do.  A respect for nature, a holistic approach and sustainability.

The four elements symbolized in our logo harmonize to create a balance of working with nature, using sustainable practices to regenerate the land and protecting our resources for future generations. The colours we chose symbolize the deep red volcanic soils of Lakeland, the orange hues of the landscape as well as our papaya, and the green trees and vegetation we grow.

As we continue to farm sustainably and develop our delicious organic jams, chutneys and dried fruits our logo symbolizes our values and our ongoing commitment to working with nature to produce nutritous organic food, for a healthier and positive future for all.
